Overwhelming
Sometimes it's hard to find motivation for a blog entry because there's simply too much going on that you don't know where to start. Do I start at point a, b or c? I could mention d along the way, and [oh for god's sake] don't forget about e, f and g.
So, I'm simply going to have to cut out certiain items with the optimistic intent of mentioning them later.
Well the folks are in the new house. What can I say? They're absolute demons at DIY. I'm not just saying, yeah they get to it. They work longer hours on the house then I do at work! Absolutely fiendish.
They were here in England for three weeks staying at Kingfisher Barns in Abingdon. In this time, they stayed, relaxed and simply adjusted to the british way of life. For mum, this entailed simply realising that it gets dark bloody early at the moment.
For dad, it meant Ale is a natural way of life. He seems to have adjusted to english beer like a fish to water. Dad and I continuoulsy found ourselves in one of the local pubs sampling some local amber necter when he arrived. I suspect this will continue for quite a while.
However, that finished all two weeks ago and now they're in my house. In this time, they've been quietly doing more DIY jobs intermixed with finding out more where they're now living. It takes time to settle into a new house, especially if the house is in a new county .. country .. hemisphere. So I'm hoping they're taking the time to enjoy themselves.
We've got the majority of the "must haves" for the house and will slowly be picking up the rest of everything else on the way. I have been exceptionally lucky with my friends and what they've given me for free. So far I've managed to aquire:
a coffee table
a bed side table
a dining table with four chairs
two high back cushioned chairs
a nice stereo
a futon
To be honest, that's a pretty amazing amount of things and the generosity of my friends has just astounded me. So thank you all for the donations along the way!!
